Description
Who are the viscidens? The ideology of the time branded hundreds of thousands of people as dissidents. People who left Hungary for political reasons. Since then, Hungarians who were once called dissidents, their children, and grandchildren have returned home, and many of them are now at home because they decided to move back to Hungary. Many of them adapted their return to the change of regime, but the process has been ongoing ever since. Several of them took on a role in building the new Hungarian democracy. These people call themselves viscidens using a specific vocabulary. In the interview volumes, 12 viscidens tell the story of their families, the ordeal of fleeing, integrating, and starting over. They also tell how they preserved and passed on the values of the Hungarian language and Hungarian culture to their children and grandchildren in the diaspora. In most of the personal stories, the struggle and battle of three generations come to life. Most of the recidivists are not stars, but ordinary people. Their fate is not ordinary. And there are also better-known people, György Szapáry, Péter Kraft, Szabolcs Szekeres, Antal Lipthay, Borbála Nádasdy, Árpád Szőczi, István Tőkés, György Habsburg or István Musto. Exciting life stories in three volumes.
